AMATEUR
Was voted Colorado High School Player of the Year in 1994… Won back to back National Championships in 1994 and 1995 with the Denver Kickers Men's Amateur… In 1995, was named the Finals Most Valuable Player… Was a Developmental player for the Colorado Foxes (APSL) in 1995 and 1996… Started all 80 games of his college career at Clemson University, from 1994 to 1997… Led Clemson to Sweet 16 (1995) and to quarterfinals (1997) of the NCAA tournament... Was a NSCAA First-team All-America selection in 1994 and 1997… Was also College Player of the Year finalist in 1997… Ranked second on the Tigers’ all-time saves list, with 311… Ended his college career with a 1.14 goal-against average... Was voted to the ACC 50th anniversary All-ACC team for soccer... Was also a All-State High School basketball player.
INTERNATIONAL
Was in the United States National Team pool from 2000 to 2002... Was called into USA National Team camp for friendly games against China and Colombia in early 2001, but has yet to earn his first cap… Represented USA at the Under-23, U-21, U-20 and U-18 levels… Was a member of the bronze-medal-winning U.S. National ‘B’ Team at the 1997 World University Games in Italy.
PROFESSIONAL
Played eight seasons in Major League Soccer (MLS), starting 117 games and compiling a record of 53-46-17, 1.51 GAA and 30 shutouts… Competed in the playoffs in seven of eight seasons and helped teams reach post season play every year as a starter in the league... Was selected by the Dallas Burn in the first round (10th Overall) of the 1998 MLS College Draft… Made his MLS debut in the Dallas Burn’s season finale on September 26, 1998, playing the first half at Colorado… In 1999, started 29 games with the Dallas Burn and established a club record for goals-against average in a season, at 1.08… That year, was also named MLS All Star, finishing the season first in the league with 11 shutouts… Was named Defensive Player of the Year by the Dallas Burn… Was also finalist for the MLS Goalkeeper of the Year award… Was named the MLS Player of the month of August... That year, reached the Conference finals... In 2000, in Dallas, led the league in minutes played by a goalkeeper, with 2,830… In 2001, started all 26 Burn games… Tied for the league lead in shutouts with nine… In 2001 and 2002, was named Dallas Burn Humanitarian of the year for his work with the YMCA… In 2002, finished the season second in the MLS with 12 wins... He is the all time leader in wins and shutouts for Dallas... He then joined the first division Danish Superliga club Odense Boldklub (OB) on February 22, 2003… Played the 2003-04 Danish Superliga season with OB… In his first game with OB, registered a 2-1 win over West Brom of England… Participated in the 2003 UEFA Cup with OB and helped the club finish fourth in the final league standings… Made a total of 21 appearances, seven first-team and 14 reserve, posting a combined record of 15-3-3 with nine shutouts... In 2004 and 2005, started just three games with the Columbus Crew due notably to injuries... In 2004, helped Columbus win the Eastern Conference Championship & MLS Supports Shield (league best record)... Was acquired by the Colorado Rapids along with Chris Wingert on January 20, 2006 from the Columbus Crew in exchange for the Rapids third round draft pick in 2006 and a conditional draft pick in 2007... In 2006, also reached the Conference finals...After returning from injury, helped Colorado win the MLS Reserve League Championship, playing in seven games… Is still in the Top ten All-Time in MLS history for shutouts (30)... Played his first season with the Impact in 2007… Was the recipient of the Newcomer of the Year Award and was named to the USL D1 All-League Second Team… Ended the season with 10 wins and 11 shutouts… Finished the season first in the league (minimum 1,000 minutes played) with only 12 goals allowed… Set two new team records, shutting out the opponent during six consecutive games, as well as not allowing a single goal during 622 minutes of play… Became the third goalkeeper in Impact history to earn at least 10 shutouts in a season, after Paolo Ceccarelli and Greg Sutton… In 2008, received the Giuseppe-Saputo, given by the club to the Most Valuable Player… Was finalist for the USL First Division Goalkeeper of the Year Award… Was named to the USL Second All-Team for a second consecutive season… Ended the season with a 0,760 Goal Allowed Average, the best in the USL First Division… Tallied 10 wins and nine shutouts in 25 regular season games… Was the player who played the most during the regular season with 2,250 minutes of play… Was named Most Valuable Player of the Nutrilite Canadian Championship, after conceding only two goals in four games… In nine games played in the CONCACAF Champions League, registered five shutouts… Signed a two-year deal with the Impact on December 12, 2008... During his career, also trained with several teams in Europe: Feyenoord (Holland), AA Gent (Belgium), Cercle Brugge (Belgium) and Maritimo (Portugal).
2009 SEASON
In his third season with the Impact, registered seven wins and six shutouts in 20 regular season games, and a 1,200 Goal Allowed Average… Registered three consecutive shutouts and shut out the opponent during 315 minutes of play… Reached the 5,000 minutes played mark in the match against Minnesota, July 11… In the playoffs, improved the team record with nine career wins with the Impact… Registered six consecutive wins, making 21 saves, earning one shutout and posting a 1,000 Goals Allowed Average… Earned his first career championship with the Impact. |
